wedding love bippityboppityboo thesweetermelody w. 1,349 notes
Something that I have always wanted to do is the washing of my beloved’s feet on our wedding day. It sounds perpetually insane, but I believe it is such a sacred, and beautiful symbol of everlasting love. It is the characterisation of servanthood, the display of placing your spouse ahead of your own desires, your own wishes, and your very own life. It is perhaps the greatest allegory of dying to self.
They shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they may not die. It shall be a statute forever to them, even to him and to his offspring throughout their generations… If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
- Exodus 30:21, John 13:14
